Marc and Karl, both of whom have a passion for making quality spirits and meeting new friends, decided to embark on an endeavor to open Citrus County's first distillery. You can meet them later.
More importantly, let's talk about the Distillery.
Homosassa Distillery will be a unique place where you can see and experience the production of fine spirits from raw materials to the bottle. Some will be relatively quick; others will take years.
Our goal is for Homosassa Distillery to become an integral part of the community. We intend to embrace the history and culture of Homosassa, Citrus County, and the entire Nature Coast in our business and products. We look forward to meeting you soon at local events.
Homosassa Distillery will be a fully operational distillery where we'll be producing quality spirits in a 2000L mash tun, four (4) 620-gallon fermenters and distilling from our 500-gallon whiskey still.
We will initially be producing bourbon, 100% corn whiskey, rum, and moonshine. We have plans to experiment with other types of spirits when the time is right.
Homosassa Distillery will offer tours, tastings, cocktails, merchandise, and of course bottled spirits to-go.
What billboard? The one on the left side of the roadway as you are traveling northbound from Homosassa.
We will be located just off Suncoast Blvd. (US-19/98) on the north side of Homosassa, behind Homosassa Marine.
More specifically: 8759 W Tradeways Court.
We're still working so feel free to drive by, but please don't stop yet or we will never finish and open to the public.
Marc and Karl began with an idea in April 2022. Since then, we've been forging forward, at times trudging very slowly. As with any new business venture, we had to go through some processes that took much longer than anticipated. We are now making steady progress and hope to be open by June 2024.
That being said, there is still a lot of work to be done. We are not willing to open until we are 100% ready. Updates about our progress will continually be shared on Facebook, so check us out!
There could be a few dozen reasons why, but very few people, us included, can be retired without something to do. Why not do something you enjoy and build your hobby into a passion.
Not to mention....A dark, sweet rum and ginger is very tasty.
